Created by the award-winning team behind the King’s Cross Theatre, two new Troubadour Theatres were launched this July. We got the chance to have a tour around the Wembley Park venue and it's safe to say we were not in a rush to leave.

If it looks familiar, it is possibly because you have seen it on TV. Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is located in the former Fountain Studios - previously home of TV shows The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Pop Idol.

As we approach the venue, it has a modern and chic look with a hipster edge. There is an outdoor area before you enter the building and a food cart that gives you the feeling that you are about to enter much more than just an ordinary theatre. When we walk in, we are greeted by the lovely organizers and a very friendly yet cool dog, which is always a plus! The foyer is very spacious and it has rustic, minimalistic, warehouse-y feeling made to attract young people. The bar is massive - 16 meters long to be exact, and the funky multicolored lights fit in perfectly with the modern atmosphere of the venue.

The auditorium is huge. It was formerly made of two studios which are now transformed into one big space with a capacity between 1000 and 2000 making it possible to accommodate a range of different productions - traditional proscenium arch theatre, in-the-round theatrical experiences, or immersive shows. The seats can be removed in seconds making it easy to accommodate any special need and even better, there is no restricted view seats! The studio is fully soundproof making it impossible for anyone beyond its walls to hear anything that’s happening inside. Of course, the option of bringing back the wall and turning the space into two smaller studios is still available.

Following this, we have the ‘walk of fame’ and are shown the dressing rooms of The X Factor judges. Naturally, the most impressive one is Simon Cowell’s, which is on a completely separate floor from the rest of the judges’ dressing rooms and full of many luxuries (we mean necessities) such as a TV hung above his bathtub. We also can’t miss the opportunity to have some fun in the rehearsal spaces around the building.

If you are getting tired from the tour and are wondering where one might grab a bite to eat in this brand new cool theatre, don’t worry! A modern state-of-the-art restaurant is in the making as we type! It’s not ready for the public yet but we saw the space and the mockups of the interior design ideas and they look amazing! There will be an open kitchen where visitors can witness the magic of the chefs happening right in front of them! Also, there will be a small stage for more intimate events. Another perk of this space is that it can be operated separately from the rest of the building meaning that it could stay open after the whole theatre has been closed. It is expected to be ready for use by the end of the year.

Unfortunately, our tour has to end up at some point and we end it in style - with a look at the toilets and of course – the mandatory bathroom selfie! Trust us, if you are a theatre lover you will know the struggle of queuing after a show or during intermission. You won’t face such an inconvenience in the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre as it is equipped with 43 female and 25 male toilets!

The Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is currently showing Dinosaur World Live - a family treat which allows kids and parents to explore the world of dinosaurs including meeting a T-Rex - the crowd favorite, a Triceratops, Stegosaurus and more! Apparently, they look so real that at one of the shows a young boy was so scared he left crying but couldn’t resist coming back for this once in a lifetime experience – real dinosaurs on stage!
